A lot of people believe that everyone is fighting for a common good and I’d have to say that’s just B.S.

Let me explain, America was developed and structured around the idea of having a free market; the founders believed that the market could regulate itself with minimum government intervention.

America is also strongly based on the idea of capitalism. Capitalism is based on competition.

It rewards those who can contribute lots of value to the market.

When both of these two market concepts are put into practice it creates the environment we currently live in. If you ever want to succeed you need to understand these concepts.

Money as well as materialistic goods is nothing more than a reflection of one’s success in dominating his or her surroundings.

I’ve heard my fair share of people that believe they are going to become millionaires overnight.

It just doesn’t work that way.

The Internet is based on competition where the best and brightest minds are put to the test to fight with each other over market dominance.

People come to the internet thinking that it’s some kind of free money pot; but there will be winners and there will be losers.

It works like this… any money you make from now on is coming out of somebody else’s pockets. In most cases people don’t easily give up their money. In most cases you have to provide something of value.

The big money comes in when you organize a team and do this on a massive scale. Money does not come out of thin air and there is no blueprint that is guaranteed for making any given amount money.

So what am getting at?

You need to adapt to the environment around you.

Newcomers need to understand there is no magic to Internet marketing.

All the guru techniques you hear about have been used off-line since before you were born. It’s all about hard work.

Stop listening to the so called gurus that have brainwashed you into being lazy; there is no fast track to success.

Targeting City and States

Now I’m not talking about targeting your city and state but rather every city and state. Take this post about Las Vegas Marketing Firm, it currently ranks #3 for, you guessed it Las Vegas marketing firm.

Now this one needs to be fine tuned and changed into an actual article about Las Vegas and the marketing firms there but it ranked rather easily for the term Las Vegas Marketing Firm. I’d like to try this out with an actual site to see how much traffic and business I can get by targeting every city and state in the US.

It sounds like a lot of work and I’m sure it will be however, done correctly I believe it would be worth the time and effort once the site is finished and ranking for every city and state. I’ll have to do some thinking about the best way to set this up but it is defiantly something I’m interested in.

Herd Mentality

I’m about to try and get my SEO forum going again and have started doing some posting on other SEO forums. The problem is that one can easily get themselves in the middle of a fight just by posting something that goes against the grain.

People will constantly do things that lack common sense and justify it with the fact that others are doing it. It makes no difference the amount of logic, proof, evidence or common sense applied. If it’s not what the herd is doing, then it makes no difference what you do or say. It’s the reason so many people hang out in bars, elected Obama, smoke, do drugs and repeat crap that makes no sense.

When it comes to making money online it might be time to step outside the herd mentality or your business will fail.

How can it not?

If 98% of all websites online are making less than $1,000.00 per month and you are following everyone else then how can you expect anything different?

It’s time to break away from the herd and discover what works and doesn’t work on your own.

I made a post today about a problem I was having with one of WebProWorld’s moderators (ctabuk). I made the post over at WebWorkShop and seem to have upset some people. Guess it’s bound to happen when you have moderators who are moderators on both forums.

I’m not sure if the problem is industry wide or just in my old stomping ground, but the forums seem to have about died down. At one time I could make a post and have 10 people commenting on it before I hit refresh and now it seems little of anything happens. I’ve even seen post I made a week ago still on the front page.

Regardless of the reason behind the slow down I blame the site owners. Had they been serious about their forums they should have seen it coming and made adjustments to prevent the slow down. Phil Craven is a long time friend and the owner of the WebWorkShop forum, he’s however moved onto other things and no longer post on his forum.

The blame does fall on the site owners and I’m one of those as well. I’ve owned and operated a forum for the last couple years that I myself don’t post on. I figure if I’m going to post on a dead forum it might as well be my dead forum.

With that idea in my head I’m leaving the world of online forums and heading to my little spot in the wide world of online forums. I might not be able to bring my forum back to life however, if God’s willing and it works at lest it will be my forum brought back if my posting, my thoughts and my ideas are of interest to anyone.

Anyone that has ever tried to rank a site on Google or for that matter any of the major search engines has had to become familiar with backlinks.

These are nothing more than incoming links to your website and can be called anything from inbound or inward links to backlinks or incoming links. It’s basically when another site owner or webmaster places a link on his site that directs his readers to your site.

Backlinks are seen by the major search engines as a vote for your site and for this reason they are greatly sought after and are very important to your presentence on the web.

The main reason that backlinks have become extremely popular over the years is due to the way the major search engines treat them. They are like gas for your car and content is like the size of the engine. While having a large powerful engine is very important if you ain’t got no gas you want get very far.

It is imposable to rank for a competitive keyword without backlinks however, very possible to rank for a competitive keyword with nothing more than backlinks. Think of it like this, every time you use a keyword on your site it’s a vote for that keyword. When Google lands on your site they see the keyword “backlinks” and assumes the content is about backlinks.

You’re only able to use the keyword so many times in your content before it starts looking crazy. Let’s say you manage to use the keyword a total of 25 times. Your competition then uses the keyword in the content on his site 26 times and ranks higher then you in the search engines.

There is a point where your site will get penalized for using the keyword to many times in the text.

Then I come along and use the keyword a couple times in my text but then get other sites to link to me using the keyword in the anchor text from all the sites that are linking to me. Google then counts and says that you guys used it 25 and 26 times however I used it 110 because I have over a hundred sites linking to me. So…I outrank you all. As time goes on others figure out what I’m doing and begin doing the same thing before long your site is no longer showing up in the search engines for any of the good keywords.

Backlinks do more than just get your site showing up for the keywords in the major search engines; they also drive traffic to your site. And when you start getting backlinks the idea is not to just get backlinks but to get backlinks that drive traffic.
